NATURALS WALLCOVERINGS HANGING INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE HANGNG THIS WALLCOVERING.
IT IS ADVISABLE THAT A PROFESSIONAL DECORATOR IS USED.
This wallcovering is a specialist product. Slight quality and colour variations may occur due to the handcrafted nature of these products. Please handle with care as natural materials are fragile. This paper is not guaranteed to be colourfast in direct sunlight. Water causes staining therefore these papers are not suitable for bathrooms or kitchens.
1. INSPECT THE ROLL Before cutting and hanging the wallcovering, ensure all rolls have the same batch/lot reference, are in good condition, and that no other faults are present. Being handmade and dyed, it is common that shades will vary from roll to roll and from end to end of a single roll. Please ensure that there are enough rolls to complete the job. Do not assume the wallcovering will come off the roll the correct way up. Always refer to the pattern book or check with your retailer. Examination before hanging is the buyer’s responsibility. No claim can be accepted after wallcoverings have been cut and hung, for defects which are apparent at the time of hanging. In the event of any complaint, please quote the reference and batch/lot number on this label.
2. PREPARATION Walls should be clean, dry and even. Remove any old wallpaper and loose paint. Roughen painted surfaces with sandpaper. Scrape powdery, flaky surfaces. Absorbent surfaces should be prepared with an oil based primer ensuring it dries completely. New plaster should be allowed to dry out completely.
3. PASTE AND HANGING This material is pre-trimmed at the factory. We recommend a premixed clear PVA adhesive is used with this wallcovering.
DO NOT USE WHEAT, CELLULOSE, ACRYLIC OR VINYL PASTE.
This wallcovering can be applied in two different ways; paste the paper or paste the wall.
Care should be taken not to allow adhesive or water on the wallcovering surface. Any paste or water on the surface of the wallcovering will discolour it and cause staining. Draw a vertical line from ceiling to floor by using a plumb line or straight edge with level. This will be your guide for positioning one edge of the first strip. Cut the strip to the height of the wall, allowing an extra 5cm on both the bottom ends for trimming. Paste the paper
Apply the adhesive evenly to the back of the strip, being careful not to get adhesive on the face of the wallcovering.
Paste and hang only one strip at a time. Book by folding each end of the strip towards the middle, pasted sides together, aligning the edges carefully so they do not dry out. Allow the folded and rolled strip to “rest” for 3 minutes. Bring to the wall and hang.
Carefully smooth all air pockets, wrinkles or excess paste from the centre strip to the edges. Trim excess at the floor and ceiling using a sharp knife.
Do not use a seam roller as this can flatten the materials ‘nap’ and discolour the surface. Do not overlap or reverse the strips. After handing 2 or 3 lengths, inspect the result to ensure that there are no faults present. Paste the wall
Apply the adhesive to the walls surface. Using a damp sponge, moisten the back of the strip being careful not to over-soak. Book and roll the strip and allow to “rest” for 3 minutes. Bring to the wall and hang.

After handing 2 or 3 lengths, inspect the result to ensure that there are no faults present. Extreme care must be taken to prevent water from contacting the face of the material or over-soaking the backing paper. No claim for hanging costs can be accepted once more than one roll has been hung. This information has been supplied in good faith, but without guarantee. Side conditions are beyond our control. It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that the environment is suitable for the wallcovering.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A WASHABLE WALLCOVERING.
